Maxglan: car wash with large parking deck
economy
In Salzburg-Maxglan, a large construction site is currently causing a stir – a fully automatic car wash is being built along the Innsbruck federal highway. A four-storey parking deck will be built above it.
The car wash, which is currently being built next to the large hardware store in Salzburg-Maxglan, will be 70 meters long. There are also 24 vacuum cleaner spaces inside the building and another 20 on the outside. A multi-storey car park with around 320 parking spaces on a total of four levels will also be built above the building.
It is still unclear how the parking areas will be used – according to the magistrate, park and ride spaces are partly possible for commuters, but permanent rental of the parking spaces is also an option. The area on which WILL be built is derelict commercial space.
Electricity will come from photovoltaic panels on the roof
The magistrate stipulates that the roof of the car wash must be equipped with a large photovoltaic system – the electricity from this is used for the car wash’s own needs. In addition, the city demands that the parking garage roof be intensively greened.
A Swiss company is building the car wash and implemented a project of this kind in Vorarlberg back in 2015 – at the time, this was the first indoor car wash in Austria. The cost at the time was four million euros. The company will not yet comment on the investment sum for the Salzburg project. The completion date is still open.
