Farewell to Remo Benzi, unforgotten commander of the Municipal Police of Genoa, in the nineties. He had been hospitalized since November with a liver problem and had been in intensive care for a week. He leaves behind his wife and three daughters.
Benzi was born in 1938 in Rivarolo, but he lived for several years in Certaldo in Tuscany due to the allied bombings of World War II.
After his military service, in 1962 he joined the Corps of Traffic Police in Genoa, happy to follow the path taken by his father Romolo, a graduate of the Corps.
Promoted to non-commissioned officer in May 1969, he commanded the section of Albaro (Genoa) until October 1972, distinguishing himself in the investigations in the famous “Sutter case”.
In 1994 he was selected and appointed Commander of the Municipal Police Corps of Genoa. In 1997, following disagreements with the council, Sansa resigned.
In 2002 he was on the “Liguria Nuova” list where he operated for five years. When the movement was dissolved by its founder Sergio Castellaneta, it passed into the “Lista Biasotti” to which the former “Liguria Nuova” list had been linked.
He then tried to return to Tursi with the Enrico Musso-Direction Italy list but without making it. For years he had dedicated himself to his great passion: poetry.
