A social worker from a Departmental House of Solidarity in Marseille violently attacked
The president of the departmental council of Bouches-du-Rhône Martine Vassal expressed her emotion after the aggression this Thursday morning of an agent at the Departmental House of Solidarity of Chartreux in the 4th arrondissement of Marseille. Around 11 a.m., a man violently attacked the agents present to ensure the reception of users. A social worker suffered a minor head injury. by breaking a Plexiglas pane. The perpetrator of the violence managed to flee.
For Annie Riccio, the deputy director general of solidarity at the Bouches-du-Rhône departmental council explains: “This person in great distress came to ask for help, without an appointment. He was unknown to the agents. _He shattered the plexiglass protection put in place since the Covid_. Everything happened very quickly. The social worker was very scared.” Anne Riccio, “The increase in incivility and verbal aggression is a reality. Fortunately, such acts of violence are much rarer”.

After this attack, the president of the departmental council of Bouches-du-Rhône specifies that a complaint was filed immediately against the author of this serious attack who managed to flee. “I want to assure all the staff of my full support and I very severely condemn this serious and unacceptable violence. It is all the more inexcusable that the agents present in the MDS are constantly listening to fellow citizens in difficulty and provide them with solutions to help and support them, whatever their situation. adds Martine Vassal.
Many missions for these departmental houses
In the Bouches-du-Rhône, there are 27 departmental solidarity houses whose objective is to be as close as possible to the inhabitants of the department. These houses have many missions: reception of the public, access to rights, protection of children, fight against precariousness with in particular the management of domestic violence, the protection of vulnerable people, PMI. 1,200 social and administrative agents and 300 medical agents work within these solidarity centers for the entire department.
51 agents, including 24 social workers, work in this Chartreux solidarity house in Marseille.
