His creations have been the focus of the store in the north of Portugal for more than 30 years and, having known the country for so long, he got to thinking one day that it would be good to open a store in Lisbon. He once met a friend who gave him the tip on Rua de S. Bento. “I went to see and there was a cafe. I didn’t manage very well to open a shop, but my partner decided to open a cafe there.” It ended up with the space next door, a store that had been empty for many years, did works and opened as Homecore doors in October 2021. Inside, the clothing of the brand with the same name shares the space with products from other brands. . As an example of the musical instruments Boite Concept, a French brand that makes speakers with a technology from the 70s, improved and inherited, which supports a modern design. Or the footwear from Veja, an eco-responsible French brand. Or even Oficine Universelle Buly cosmetics, which come from France inspired by the beauty secrets of the world and with a design in the style of the old pharmacy. The terms of the Texan Yeti are also added to give a touch of exoticism. this space be a French oasis in the middle of Lisbon? “It can be seen like this. But he is French with a Portuguese heart.”

Ana Bonet, one of the studio’s founders, explains that this space is “an extension of LDV’s work with large companies such as Google, Santander…, but now with a careful curatorship in the selection of decorative elements and iconic pieces of design”. In this new store it is possible to find several pieces of international design, both the classics, the new releases, as well as humor, and how to find the criteria that define the selection. The Eames House Bird, Dolls by Vitra, small electronics by Hay, table and kitchen accessories by Normann Copenhagen, Lucie Kaas Dolls, Flower Pot lamps, Thames & Hudson books, Chommies accessories for dogs and cats and colorful bike covers by Velosocks from Latvia are examples of the supply they occupy as shelves.

Hayet Graham is French and lived in London, but Brexit led to the move to Lisbon. In the British capital she had craft arts, she had a project for which artists also had the proposal to open a store, which she studied here. But the pandemic caused the country to close and made the whole process difficult. She says that she felt on the planet Mars, because she is learning Portuguese, but she couldn’t talk to anyone to lose weight. In September 2021 she started visiting neighborhoods in search of a space. She ended up settling in Campo de Ourique and only after realizing that it was an area rich in architecture and interior design studios, which was a pleasant surprise. AN Nomadic opened in November 2021 and focuses on two themes: Portuguese brands and sustainability. It has Sopro Jewelery brand jewelry, handmade notebooks, lamps by an artist who blows, and lots of ceramics, since in Portugal these creations “have a lot of quality and variety”. However, Hayet also brought the well-known French brand Caravane to the country, through pillows and blankets. She recognizes that the prices are a little more expensive than the common decor stores, because they are handcrafted items. The founder explains that she likes to get to know the artists, understand their processes and then tell people the story of the pieces, because finally that’s also where part of their value lies.
El Corte Inglés in Lisbon and Vila Nova de Gaia
In the El Corte Inglés spaces in Lisbon and Vila Nova de Gaia, Castelbel aromas are paired in the air. From the beginning of the year, it is possible to visit the new corners of the Portuguese brand in these multi-brand spaces. Classics and novelties come together in a gallery of very fragrant options. In addition to the products, there is still room for sustainability and creativity. The first way is the possibility of refilling Castelbel and Portus Cale aluminum bottles with perfumes of choice for the diffusers. The second is created through a personalization machine available for soaps (which is in Lisbon) that allows unique products with words, numbers or phrases.
Av. Duque de Loulé 22, 3rd Floor – Room 4. Picoas, Lisbon.
Here the theme is exclusively wedding dresses. Brides who have already married can sell their dress and those who are about to get married can find the second-hand piece of their dreams at a more attractive price. It is possible to find pieces from brands such as Pronovias, Rosa Clará, Penhalta and also a selection of dresses by designer Rita Álvares Pereira and prices vary between 500 and 1500 euros. This project dates from October 2021 and is based on three pillars: being a sustainable, advanced and practical option. According to the founder of the project, Teresa Baumeister Simões, “it is already known that the fashion industry is one of the most polluting in the world, but it seems that in bridal fashion this topic is overlooked. A bride, worn only once, by definition, one of the few least pieces of clothing, which a bride will own for the fewest hours.” At the Lisbon address is the showroom, but no website you can see the dresses available and schedule a visit.
