The Secretary of State for Education and Culture of the Republic of San Marino Andrea Belluzzi takes stock of the first two years of activity of his Secretariat
‘In two days, it will be two years from that Sunday evening when an emergency committee composed of Secretaries of State, Health and Civil Protection met, which approved the closure of the school due to COVID-19. After a week, the gradual lockdown of public services and offices would begin. ‘ With these words Secretary of State for Education and Culture, University and Scientific Research, Youth Policies of the Republic of San Marino Andrea Belluzzi this morning opened the press conference during which, together with the Director of the Department Laura Gobbi, the managers of the school sector of all levels, the Director of the Naturalistic Center and the Director of the Music Institute wanted to take stock of the path traced in these two years by her Secretariat having faced, with difficulty. a pandemic.
‘The world of education is the one that, after health care, has suffered the strongest effects and the most serious slowdowns in its processes, Belluzzi continued. ” Despite the COVID, this Secretariat has carried out numerous projects: the University has entered the Bologna Charter, a historic step for San Marino that will produce very important new developments regarding the growth of our university and the design of courses graduation; we started a technical discussion with the Ministry of Education, which reached the completion of a first stage with the renewal of agreements regarding the recognition of our educational qualifications and our training courses in compulsory school; we brought home the Naturalistic Center whose teaching and training functions of an open-air laboratory are fundamental; we have finally given a home to the Sammarine Music Institute which I hope will be able to create new musical projects in the training sector; we started the reform of the school sector to respond to the problem of the demographic decline in elementary school through the differentiation of the educational offer, through the introduction of a proposal of differentiated school timetable in the middle school, with the inclusion of the teaching of the Spanish language in upper secondary school which will continue throughout the year to respond to the change dictated by society and needs; as regards the theme of inclusion, we launched a project for the summer centers last summer for all children and young people who have a disability; we have worked to restore vitality to our historic center, to our capital with the opening of the Stamp and Coin Museum and with the reopening of Palazzo SUMS as a place of culture. ‘
‘I express my most heartfelt situation thanks to all who have fought and committed themselves in the school world to manage the emergency because, despite the COVID, we have achieved the important results I mentioned, which have a greater confidence in the school system San Marino by the families of our country. The 100 enrollments more than last year in upper secondary school are proof of this and mark a success of the entire school system ‘, concluded Belluzzi.
The Director of the Department Laura Gobbi also wanted to thank all the school administrators, collaborators and teachers for their commitment over the last two years, for how emergency they have reacted to health care and managed a completely unpredictable situation. She has the adoption and introduction of the new curricula which she said ‘was an epochal turning point. The curricula outline the school and the future of our young people, different learning environments, teaching models and teaching methods, which outline a new school, a new educational offer. ‘ He then touched on the delicate issue of juvenile distress that exploded during the emergency period and is growing: ‘we introduced ourselves and introduced the listening space immediately, managed together with the child protection service, in the middle school, in the training center professional and secondary school, a very important point of reference for students, teachers and families. ‘ Finally, Gobbi abandoned the fact that the Secretariat, in full health emergency, worked on updating the Decree on educational qualifications for access to teaching.
Finally, the unanimous voice of those present wanted to address a special thanks to the children, to the students all for whom, everyone said, we will have to fight to rebuild a normal sociality.
