Sweden’s SVT employs Paramount exec as international manager – TBI Vision
Swedish pubcaster SVT has hired the head of entertainment at Paramount (formerly ViacomCBS) to replace Stephen Mowbray as head of its international division.
Karolina Stallwood, who will be head of SVT International, most recently worked on the launch of the Paramount Network and its streaming siblings Paramount +.
She has previously worked with acquisitions and programming as content director at MTG Sweden (now NENT Group). She has also been to London, where she worked for the Channel 4 Paramount-owned duo Channel 5 and Comedy Central UK, and the BBC.
She replaces Mowbray as head of SVT’s international operations after the longtime manager left to take on a newly created acquisition role on NENT Group’s streamer, Viaplay, in October. Her assignment will focus in particular on obtaining script content.
Stallwood said: “This is truly a dream job for me. SVT has a world-class range and being able to continue to deliver a wide and high-quality range of entertainment with the very best purchased programs is both incredibly fun and an important mission.”
SVT’s program manager Eva Beckman added that Stallwood’s “experience and energy” would ensure that the public service company continued to acquire international programs despite the “tough” competition.
Stallwood will take up his new role on May 1.
