RB Salzburg already in mind: Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann promises “better performance”
An embarrassing defeat against promoted VfL Bochum, a last-minute draw in the Champions League against the clear underdog RB Salzburg – and now a first half to forget against Greuther Fürth: FC Bayern Munich experienced a mysterious week. And yet for coach Julian Nagelsmann the result on Sunday afternoon is above all: “Never Complain About a Victory”, is the summary of the 34-year-old coach at the press conference after the 4-1 (0-1) home win against Fürth in a mixture of English and German. However, the weak first 45 minutes revealed some construction sites for the record champions, Nagelsmann was even forced to make a promise with regard to the upcoming tasks.

Because the tactics of the coach after two games without a win don’t work: “In the first half we played a 4-2-3-1 that the boys are in the usual positions and processes that they have been in for the last two or three years played, get into the rhythm,” explained the coach DAZN. However, that didn’t do much: FCB were too harmless in front of the goal and even conceded a goal from a free kick just before the break. “The first half wasn’t great, but you could see that we were a bit unsure,” analyzed the coach.
Only after a tactical implementation did Munich really get going after the change of sides: “The first 20 minutes after the break were very good,” said Nagelsmann, but despite a 4-0 half time he still put his finger in the wound: “We were then too offensive because we want to do the third and fourth.” In the end, despite all the tactical problems, Lewandowski’s 27th and 28th goal of the season (46th/82nd), an own goal by Sebastian Griesbeck (61st) and the goal by Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (90 + 1) for the clear victory of the table leader – and only the count, says Nagelsmann: “The three points are important to us. Sometimes the points are more important than the skill.” Thanks to the success, Lewandowski and Co. kept BVB, who won 6-0 against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday, at a distance in the table and continue to lead them by six points.
