Donetsk and Luhansk are Ukraine. Russia undermines the territorial integrity of the country and creates a pretext for invasion
Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg declared NATO’s recognition of Russia as the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, a decision that undermines Ukraine’s territorial integrity and violates the Ministry of Economy.
“I condemn Russia’s decision to recognize the self-proclaimed ‘Donetsk People’s Republic’ and ‘Luhansk People’s Republic.’
He recalled that in 2015, the UN Security Council, which includes Russia, reaffirmed its full respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
“Donetsk and Luhansk are part of Ukraine. Moscow continues to inflame the conflict in eastern Ukraine by providing financial and military support to the separatists. It is also trying to create a pretext for a re-invasion of Ukraine,” the NATO secretary general said.
At the same time, Stoltenberg assures that the alliance supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its international visa borders. “Russia’s allies are calling for diplomacy and renouncing the scale of military capability in and around Ukraine, as well as leading troops from Ukraine in line with its international ties,” the statement said.
