MILAN – Mission accomplished. Achille Lauro will represent San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song ‘Stripper’. The eccentric singer from Veneto, as widely expected, won the competition ‘A voice for San Marino’, the contest organized by Media Evolution and San Marino Rtv, in collaboration with the Secretariat for Tourism, to choose the representative of the Republic of Titano at the music festival in Turin. Achille Laurorà thus challenges Mahmood and Blanco, competing to represent Italy with the song ‘Broglie’. They will both be included in the second semifinal, but according to the regulation, Italian fans will be able to vote only for the winners of the last Sanremo Festival.
“I will participate in Eurovision2022 with the song ‘Stripper’. A great opportunity to give my music and performances an international stage ”, commented Achille Lauro on his Instagram profile. “Heartfelt thanks to San Marino, ‘the ancient land of freedom’, for inviting me to the very first edition of its festival and for making this possible,” he added. So addressed to his fans, Achille Lauro wrote: “See you in Turin. ‘But what a stupid desire I have’ ”. Lauro had feared the possibility of participating in the San Marino event on the occasion of the Sanremo Festival, where he was ranked 14th. No sooner said than done.
In second place in the competition organized by San Marino RTV, Media Evolution and the Tourism Secretariat are Alessandro Coli and Dj Burak Yeter while Aaron Sibley gets third place.
