Sweden’s princess Leonore celebrates her birthday when her mother shares a new photo on Instagram – Royal Central
Sweden’s Princess Leonore celebrates her eighth birthday. To mark the occasion, her mother, Princess Madeleine, has shared a new photo of the young royal on her Instagram account.
The photo was taken of Princess Leonore outside, apparently in Miami, with the king in a sleeveless dress.
In her Instagram post, Princess Madeleine said: “Happy birthday to our strong and beautiful Leonore!”
The post has received over 22,000 likes and many comments from benefactors who say to Leonore happy birthday.
Princess Leonore lives with her family in Miami, Florida. She is the eldest of Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill’s three children.
Leonore was born in New York City and has dual American and Swedish citizenship; as such, she is the American throne closest to the Swedish throne. Leonore is currently ninth in the line of succession. At the time of her birth, she was five and “reserve” to Princess Estelle’s heir to the throne.
She was the second grandson of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, and since Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel at that time had only one child, Leonore was the next heir of her generation and would play an important role. However, a few years later, the Crown Princess couple got their son Prince Oscar and Madeleine’s big brother Prince Carl Philip married. He and his wife, Princess Sofia, now have three children, which drove Leonore down the line.
In October 2019, the king, through Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine, removed the style of royal highness and membership in the royal family from his grandchildren. This was done to give the children more freedom when they grow up because they are not expected to perform tasks on behalf of the royal family.
Princess Leonore and her siblings, Prince Nicolas and Princess Adrienne, and Carl Philips’ two sons, Princes Alexander and Gabriel, lost their royal highness. Carl Philips’ youngest child, Prince Julian, was the monarch’s first grandchild to be born without royal highness and membership in the royal family.
