Update from February 19, 1:14 p.m.: The Munich Security Conference started on Friday, and effects could also be felt in the Isar metropolis on Saturday. “Due to today’s assembly situation and pilotage to and from #MSC2022, there may be traffic delays throughout the city center,” the police wrote on Twitter. “So please plant more time and use public transport or a bicycle if possible,” says the appeal.
Munich Security Conference: Security checks for residents too
Update from February 18, 2:34 p.m.: As a reminder, the police strongly advise against driving towards the city center by car. All streets around the Promenadeplatz and the Bayerischer Hof are completely closed. Even local residents have to go through a security check. Only those who can prove by means of their identity card that they live in the security zone can get through. Visitors to the doctor are escorted to the practice with an escort.
In addition, the Munich police point out that there are regular mobile barriers for the arrival and departure of prominent participants with their convoys – through the entire city area to Munich Airport. Several demos are also planned. There should be several large rallies, especially on Saturday between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Parts of the Altstadtring are then also closed.

11:57 am: While the police are sealing off downtown Munich for the security conference, a major fire broke out in the Freimann district*.
