BEIJING, February 19 (Reuters) – Sweden won Olympic bronze in the curling competition for women by beating Switzerland 9-7 at the National Aquatics Center last Saturday.
Anna Hasselborg, gold medalist at the Olympics in Pyeongchang four years ago, led Sweden to victory against Silvana Tirinzoni’s reigning world champion Switzerland and won in the final deal.
The Swedish quartet was cheered on by newly crowned Olympic champions Niklas Edin and the men’s team, who beat Great Britain in the final earlier on Saturday, along with a handful of their compatriots on site.
Hasselborg and Sweden had stopped the hosts’ South Korean fairytale race in the 2018 final to win gold, but had to settle for bronze in Beijing after losing Friday’s semifinal against Great Britain.
