14,160 more cases and 37 deaths from covid-19 in Portugal – Coronavirus
On Friday, Portugal recorded 14,160 more cases of people infected with covid-19 and 20 deaths caused by the virus, according to data released today, February 19, by the Directorate General (DGS).
There are 137 fewer admissions than on Thursday, for a current total of 1,799, and nine fewer patients in attendance, where there are now 118 people, the lowest number since December 1.
In Portugal, since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,178,029 infections by covid-19 and 20,796 deaths have been detected.
The number of recovered patients this Friday was 26,828, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,653,048.
Active cases, which are calculated by subtracting from the total 705 from Thursday to 504,185,705
The number of contacts under the surveillance of health authorities drops to 521,186, 12,965 less than the day before.
According to the data contained in the DGS bulletin, the North region reported 16 of the 37 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, having added a further 3,194 infections, with the Lisbon region accounting for 11 deaths and a total of 4,505 new cases.
At the Center there were eight deaths and 2,624 more infections.
The other two deaths were recorded in Alentejo and Algarve, where a further 907 and 836 cases of covid-19 were recorded, respectively.
In the Azores there were 1,525 more infections and 569 in Madeira.
In cumulative terms, Lisbon and the Tagus Valley total 8,644 deaths, the North adds up to 6,366, the Center accounts for 3,686, the Alentejo 1,161, the Algarve 836, Madeira 182 and the Azores 83.
