Two garbage collectors violently attacked in Marseille
A typical attack, but particularly violent. Two garbage collectors were hit by a motorist on Thursday evening, boulevard Larrat in the 10th arrondissement of Marseille. Their garbage truck moved down the one-way street, stopping at each dumpster to empty it. Behind them, a car and an impatient driver and ends up coming out to threaten them.
The driver caught a key to remove the wheels and hits a ripener in the head. A gang of young people from La Sauvagère joined him and attacked the garbage collectors. Supervisors, warned before the situation escalates, intervene and put an end to the attack.
More and more violence
The man shot in the head received 15 stitches to the skull. Following this violent attack, the garbage collectors exercised their right of withdrawal. On France Bleu Provence, Rodolphe Lamourette, Force Ouvrière collection manager in Marseille, estimates that a “course was passed in violence”. The trade unionist describes an increase in violence against garbage collectors. “At the beginning it was simple verbal, already difficult to live with, now we have moved on to physical aggression”explains Rodolphe Lamourette.
The assaulted officers refuse to return to the Sauvagère sector. The FO union asks collection management in this neighbourhood.
