Tiger of Sweden autumn 2022 Ready-to-Wear collection
Bryan Conway worked with photographer Clementine Schneiderman to produce a Tiger of Sweden lookbook that not only served the surface but also the content of the collections he created this season. It was filmed on Gotland, the beautiful Swedish island that Tiger comes from with an increasingly sophisticated mix of the distinctive wool from his domestic sheep. Hans and Jenni, who run the Wool Office (“the wool office”) as Tiger partners, were among those shot on the experimental farm where the sheep are bred and grazed. The latest chapter in what Conway called a “long-term project” was Gotland wool coating whose finish and feel were more durable and compactly processed than previous seasons.
Harriet and Karin (their last names were not stated), two of the local knitters who make the Swedish wool gloves shown by hand in the lookbook, were also models in two rust-colored wool coats. New for the season was also a collaboration with the long-established Swedish fabric manufacturer Klassbols, which supplies jacquard damask fabric to the Swedish royal family and the Nobel Committee for its award-winning banquet. Conway said that together they collaborated on the panel-patterned Daldrall jacquard cut here in a tailored white jacket with two buttons for men and a whole white skirt for women that was buried more crookedly in some black women’s clothing.
Beyond Sweden itself, Tiger’s core identity remains rooted in tailoring and here a high-pitched boxy cut is nicely translated for both sexes. All around were fringed leather jackets, smooth leather pants and beautifully floral puffs. By casting the true protagonists of this Tiger of Sweden collection in his lookbook, Conway in a transparent and convincing way allowed a window into a brand for which both craftsmanship and authenticity are attractively inherent.
