Salzburg’s 132 lower house clubs are currently completing their preparation program and doing everything they can to start the spring championship as strong as possible. Meanwhile, a crew of around 30 futsal kickers are causing a sensation. The one that was launched in summer 2021 International Klessheim Futsal Club really makes the parquet glow and is about to jump into the 1st Austrian Futsal League.

Made to measure debut: Inter Klessheim is racing towards the Futsal Bundesliga
Nine wins from ten games, plus a goal difference of plus 67 – the International Klessheim Futsal Club, Inter Klessheim for short, literally demolished the 2nd Futsal League – Group West. Next Sunday (5:00 p.m., Sporthalle Sportzentrum Nord) the Salzburg indoor magicians will face the penultimate league game. Probably the most likely, because with a positive result against second-placed Ljuti Krajisnici from Linz, promotion to the Futsal Bundesliga could be fixed early. Christopher Ruprecht, Elixhausen’s player coach and Inter Klessheim puzzle piece, is happy about the title decision: “Since we started the season so well and are still at the top of the table on the penultimate day of the game, we are of course really keen to continue the first year more to crown.” The first duel of the season with the Linzers was won by the Salzburgers 6:5 shortly before Christmas.
Lots of familiar faces
Before the start of the very first futsal season, Inter Klessheim registered a squad of around 30 kickers. Many are there sporadically, but some almost always. Including a number of well-known names from the lower house: Julian Vincetic (Grödig), Benjamin Taferner (Vöcklabruck), Elvis Ozegovic (Ostermiething), Stefan Federer, Petrit Nika (both SAK) and Elixhausen player coach Christopher Ruprecht. Nikola Trkulja (SAK) and Leon Schmid (Attergau) will also be there at the summit on Sunday. The crew is coached by “Boss” David Sandic and “Co” Nemanja Peric (both Bergheim).
From the street in Halle
The idea of joining the futsal league came about in the summer of 2021. Ruprecht explains: “Basically, the Kings of Klessheim community has been around for a long time and now has almost 170 players. Kings of Klessheim is actually quite ‘old school’ about street football. So we just kick it off all day on the football pitch.” But it wasn’t long before the football-mad gentlemen moved from the soccer field to the indoor parquet. “Because we just noticed that we’re a great team, we then decided to found an important club – with three backgrounds because futsal is a competitive sport and we were allowed to continue playing during the Corona lockdown,” Ruprecht continued.
sustainable concept
“The whole project shouldn’t be a flash in the pan,” Ruprecht lets know. The aim of Inter Klessheim is to make the club itself, street football and futsal even better known in Salzburg. “Meanwhile, the association already has about 50 members and is characterized by the fact that we are not just members, but also friends,” enthuses Ruprecht, knowing that it would not be possible without helping hands: “In order to be able to implement the project sustainably , Are we dependent on additional patrons/supporters or support from the SFV and the city of Salzburg not living the dream.”
