Portugal is the third country with the most women inventors in the world
More than half of the patents applied for in Cuba were held by women. The data is advanced by World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and refer to 2021. Portugal appears in third place in the world list, being the first among the countries of the European Union.
Cuba, which was only presented sporadically, appears in the first place of the table with 56% of patents to be applied for by female elements. The Philippines is the second country on the list, with 38%.
With 34%, Portugal appears in third place in the world and in the highest place in the European Union list (HUH). The second European country to appear in the table is Romania, which comes in sixth place with 28%, and Spain is also in the world top 10, with 26%.
worldwide, the average number of female inventors is at 17%. Several European Union countries represent this limit – including Germany (11%), Ireland (14%) and Italy (15%). The EU country at the bottom of the list is Austria, at 8.6%.

worldwide, Egypt leads the countries with the fewest female inventors, not reaching 2%. Liechtenstein comes in second (4%), Malta and Belarus are in third place, both with 6%.
