India: The 8th Joint Interministerial Committee in Athens in April
The important ones prospects presented for enhancement of bilateral business relations between Greece and Indiawas the subject of a meeting organized by the Embassy of India with the support of the Hellenic Investment and Foreign Trade Company (Enterprise Greece), yesterday, Thursday 17 February 2022.
With a central theme “India-Greece Cooperation to Promote Bilateral Trade and Investment Opportunities”The event focused on areas of common interest in the fields of exports and investments, such as food and beverages, industrial products, consumer products, etc., as well as exploring opportunities in the field of technology, tourism, jewelry, etc. .
According to an announcement, this meeting is a prelude to it 8th Joint Interministerial Committee to be held at Athena τον April and in which India will be represented by a multi-member mission.
The host of the event was ambassador of India in Hellas, Α.Ε. Amrit Lugun, who referred to the traditional long-term ties of the two countries and the possibilities of their further development, while he had special mention of India’s participation as an “honored country” at the 84th Thessaloniki International Fair in 2019 (India was also the “honored country” »In 2009), in which he was represented by a business delegation headed by the Minister of Trade and Industry, as Shri Hardeep Singh Puri.
The excellent level of relations between the two countries, explains the CEO of Enterprise Greece, George Filiopoulos and stated that: “India and Greece have an excellent relationship, which further claims from such meetings. With the second largest population in the world and an ever-growing middle class, India is an important market for Greek companies and a priority for Enterprise Greece. Greece, like India, has a highly educated workforce with a high percentage of scientists, engineers and doctors and is emerging as a hub of technology and innovation in Southeast Europe. This opens opportunities for further cooperation in new areas such as research and innovation and we are very pleased to see, today here, the strong interest of the Indian side for the Greek system of start-up products.
Mr. Filiopoulos also stated that, during the forthcoming Indian, business mission to Greece, Enterprise Greece will sign Cooperation Agreements (MoU) with the Indian Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Invest India, with the aim of the further development of the trade relationship between Greece and India.
