‘Europe has chosen the Maltese language’
Two international Eurovision polls ranked Rhythm of Aidan as their favorite song from last night’s semi-final and the results went unnoticed by the Maltese singer.
Survey by Wiwibloggsin which just over 3,000 votes were cast, they had Aidan in first place with 20.37% of the vote, Emma Muscat’s Out Of Sight in second place with 14.75%, Nicole Azzopardi’s Into The Fire -third (7.93%), to Matt BLXCK’s Come Around fourth (6.73%) and Jessika’s Kaleidoscope fifth (4.7%).
Eurovisionworld.comthe poll, in which nearly 5,000 votes were cast, had similar results.
Aidan emerged as the clear favorite after winning 37% of the vote, with Emma Muscat slightly behind by 27%, Nicole Azzopardi third with 11% and all remaining singers collecting only 3% or less.
“Europe chose the Maltese language yesterday,” Aidan said, urging people to vote for his song.
If Aidan wins, this will be the first time Malta has sent a Maltese song to Eurovision since 1972, when Helen & Joseph finished last with Love.
Voting is still open, with the finalists announced at the end of a special show tonight, where several past Eurovision winners will be drawn.
The Eurovision final will then take place on Saturday, with the winner representing Malta in the popular contest in Turin in May.
