Ukraine intends to intensify the work of the NATO-Ukraine Interparliamentary Council
(UNIC). This was stated by First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Kornienko (pictured right) during a working meeting with the Co-Chair of the NATO-Ukraine Interparliamentary Council (UNIC), Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Michał Scherba (pictured center).
“Together with Mr. Scherba, we discussed ways to intensify cooperation between our countries, in particular on Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations. It is important for us to be in constant dialogue and develop our partnership, so we asked a delegation of UNIC members to visit Ukraine in April to prepare a report for the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, which will take place in Kyiv in May this year, “he said. Alexander Kornienko based on the results of the meeting.
For his part, the Chairman of the Permanent Delegation of the Ukrainian Parliament to NATO PA Yegor Chernev (pictured left) added that the meeting also discussed the peculiarities of cooperation with the situation near Ukraine’s state borders in connection with Russian aggression.
“We need to intensify the issues of all partners, so we agreed to expand cooperation, prepare joint statements, reports to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, as well as to unite all UNIC members and representatives of other Allies,” he said.
According to the parliamentarians, this is a preliminary agreement on the visit of UNIC delegates to Donbass, which may take place in the near future.
