BEIJING, February 17 (Xinhua) – Sweden and Great Britain will fight for the men’s curling gold with their respective semi-final victories in Beijing 2022 here on Thursday night.
After the round-robin step, Sweden defeated Canada 5-3 while Great Britain sawed off the USA 8-4 in the semifinals.

Canada managed to level the game to 3-3 in the eighth end, when Sweden scored a point to advance.
With the ninth end blank, Canada’s jumping Brad Gushue failed on a hit-and-roll attempt in his last shot, which gave a theft of a point to Sweden. The 41-year-old thus missed the Olympic final, which he has been striving for for 16 years.
“I’m really disappointed, upset, frustrated … all kinds of emotions. But I’m also proud of our team. We fought hard and gave ourselves a chance to win. Unfortunately it did not work out,” said Gushue.
Canada will compete against the United States for the bronze medal on Friday. ■
