Storm Eunice. 2 days of strong winds in Caen: trains canceled and yellow vigilance

After the first gusts of wind felt in the evening of Wednesday February 16, 2022, a second very windy episode is expected in Caen and its surroundings, Friday February 18 and Saturday February 19, 2022. yellow vigilance to strong winds is activated by Météo France for Calvados from 4 a.m. on Friday. It will remain until the next day.
A southwest wind is expected, with gusts at times. Météo France announces peaks of 80 km / h on the plain of Caen at the start of the day, and up to 90 km/h in the afternoon. Then the wind should weaken overnight, before it strengthens again on Saturday morning. Gusts of 80 km / h are expected in the afternoon by Météo France.
Hollows of 9 m expected at sea!
The maritime prefecture is also alerting maritime professionals to the large hollows which should form in the Channel on Friday and Saturday. Hollows reached between 6 and 9 meters! Navigation conditions will be particularly degraded.
The passage of storm Eunice over northern Europe also has an impact on train traffic in Normandy. The SNCF thus announces that the circulation of trains is interrupted from Friday February 18 at 12 p.m. on the Caen-Cherbourg and Caen-Granville axes.
SNCF says it hopes to resume service as normal from Saturday.
