Jamie Harpootlian is officially the new US Ambassador to Slovenia
LJUBLJANA, SL (WIS) – Jamie Lindler Harpootlian presented her credentials to President Borut Pahor at the Presidential Palace in Ljubljana on Thursday.
Nominated President Joe Biden Harpootlian for Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Slovenia on 21 July 2021, and for the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Slovenia, she was officially sworn in on 30 December 2021.
According to the Office of Public Affairs, Harpootlian has decades of experience as a lawyer in both private practice and the public service, which focuses on federal litigation. She participated in complex civil lawsuits as a special magistrate appointed by the court, where she facilitated the resolution of cases.
Harpootlian was appointed by the Department of Justice to be heard by the Victims Compensation Fund on September 11, 2001, and also served as an official with United States District Attorney Henry Mentz in Louisiana.
Ambassador Harpootlian says the United States and Slovenia have great opportunities to strengthen ties.
“My goal is to be a bridge to work every day to pave the way for working together and strengthening our partnership to support our shared vision of peace, prosperity and a healthier planet for all people,” Harpootlian said.
Ambassador Harpootlian was raised in California and South Carolina. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and art history from Mary Baldwin College and then a bachelor’s degree in law from Tulane University School of Law. The new ambassador is married to South Carolina Senator Dick Harpootlian.
