David ‘da Buraca’, a reference in catering in Lisbon, has died
David Alves Rodrigues, known as ‘David da Buraca’, a leading personality in the restoration of Greater Lisbon, died this Wednesday at the age of 82. The news was given by the Casa do Concelho de Ponte de Lima, where he was born, and confirmed on the social networks of the ‘David da Buraca’ Restaurant, in Amadora.
“It is with deep regret that the Management of the Casa do Concelho de Ponte de Lima learned of the death of the founder David José Alves Rodrigues, where it is added that David was “an exemplary man who so much partner” to build this house, and to with whom we want to express all our eternal gratitude”.
The Casa do Concelho de Ponte de Lima also expresses “deepest condolences to the family and friends”.
On the restaurant’s Facebook page, Paulo Rodrigues, a partner, wrote that “the most generous, human, hardworking and friend MAN left but his legacy lives on in all those who had the pleasure of crossing him on his way”.
The wake took place today, the 17th, at 3 pm in the hall of the Church of Benfica. The mass takes place on Friday at 3 pm, the funeral departure will be at 4 pm to the Alto de São João cemetery, in Lisbon, where he will be cremated.
