Loss for Norway in this year’s first match
Norway – Portugal 0-2
The case is being updated!
The national team arrived in Portugal on Monday, and after just a joint training session, they just met Portugal in the first match of the Algarve Cup. Portugal pressed hard, but Norway had several great chances they failed to take advantage of well enough.
Only in the last quarter before the break did Norway get into a good flow, but it was Portugal who had the biggest chances.
Poor goalie
The match’s first and only goal came after 21 minutes. After a bit of clapping and babbling, Portugal came to a post on their right side. Maria Thorisdottir missed the ball inside her own 16-meter, and the ball ended up with Tatiana Pinto who scored.
Portugal could double the lead shortly after. The team got free, but Andreia Norton hit the crossbar. Both Manchester City newcomer Julie Blakstad and Vilde Bøe Risa came to great chances, but both shots went just over goal.
Could be settled
Norway went to the break at the position 0-1, but in the second half both the game and the chances were better.
Blakstad were close to equalizing when Portugal’s goalkeeper Inês Pereira lost control, but the away team just got saved away. Just over 15 minutes later, the young girl knocked again, but this time the ball went into the crossbar.
Norway’s next match is against Italy. It will be played on Sunday at 12 noon.
