Stop auxiliary impacts. The town hall ofAvigno (Vaucluse) Should receive soon two gates intended to obstruct the passage of trucks on the Saint-Bénézet bridge. Despite signs prohibiting access to heavy goods vehicles, they sometimes go there. Five impacts are to be deplored in three years according to the town hall, including two last week. A first on Thursday February 10, 2022, during which a part of the vehicle concerned even remained embedded in the stone and another on Saturday February 12, 2022. Still according to the town hall, another impact was interrupted this Sunday February 13.
Gates ordered three years ago
These gantries should therefore make it possible to preserve a little more the integrity of this bridge classified as a Historic Monument. “They are ordered for three years, but we had to wait for the agreement of the Architectes des Bâtiments de France. The process is a bit long. “explains the town hall.
The two gantries will land in Avignon these next few weeks. One will be installed upstream of the bridge, the other downstream.
