L’Student has just unveiled its ranking of universities according to the degree success rate. The first three years of faculty have a high failure rate, and the University of Aix-Marseille is no exception.
Of the 68 universities tested, the University of Aix-Marseille limply occupies 43rd placeand is therefore placed in the second part of the table.
At Aix-Marseille University (AMU), the license success rate is 29.6%. It climbs to 41.4% if we count the licenses obtained in three or four years, with therefore a year of repetition.
In science, the success rate thwarts the social determinants
However, one course is an exception: the “sciences and health” courses. In scientific licenses, Aix-Marseille climbed to 15th place in the national rankings with a 34.1% success rate in license in three years.
The success of science courses at AMU is also due to its ability to thwart social determinism. That’s what L’Student calls the “added value”who reached here 7.8 points.
Indeed, taking into account the social origin of the students, the Ministry of Education estimates that science students in Marseille should not be 34.1% to obtain their license in three years, but 7.8 points less, i.e. only 26.3%.
On the other hand, this observation is specific to the medical course. In the ranking which takes into account all the sectors, Aix-Marseille University obtains no added value (-0.3 point).
As for the top of the table, it is occupied by the universities of Angers, Corsica then Poitiers.
