Online exchange for grazing cattle – salzburg.ORF.at

They lack grazing cattle, the others lack pastures – so that they can find each other more specifically in the future, the Salzburg Almplatzbörse has been online for a few days. Cattle, horses, sheep and goats find alpine pastures and die to be grazed.
The cows of the Bachbauer in Bischofshofen (Pongau) can enjoy the winter sun. The summer accommodation on the Mitterfeldalm at the foot of the Hochkönig is already booked. For Noriker mare Lisa and her two-year-old twins, farmer Sandra Pfuner is still looking for the prestigious Almplatz. The new Almplatzbörse makes the search easier. For the farmers, this is an easy way to get in touch with others, said farmer Pfuner. “That’s also the advantage that I can place an ad and actively search for it myself.”
Young animals care for the alpine landscape
While people in Bischofshofen are looking for pastures, they are looking for additional grazing cattle at the Prommegghof in Großarl (Pongau) for the farm’s own Filzmoosalm. “We urgently need more young animals, because we are already starting to grow overgrowth – young animals would take good care of the alpine landscape,” said alpine farmer Bettina Huber. A few days ago she placed an ad in the Almplatzbörse and now she sees that someone is getting in touch.
Good pasture management important
The online Almplatzbörse was created as part of the Salzburg Almweide project. “A good cornerstone of good alpine pasture management is that you find a number of animals that is adapted to the area,” explained Almwirtschaftsberaterin Petra Fürstauer-Reiter from the Salzburg Chamber of Agriculture. In times when animal welfare and animal health would play such an important role, many animal owners also want to drive their animals to the alpine pastures. “And to bring these animal owners together with the alpine farmers, that was the basic idea of the alpine cattle exchange.”
Great interest in Almplatzbörse
The offer is free and nationwide. The feedback was very positive, said project manager Elisabeth Neureiter from Maschinenring Salzburg. “The few days in which we have now quietly gone online and there has only been a bit of word of mouth have shown that there is a great deal of interest.” Neureiter said that there was a need beforehand .
New Almplatz exchange for grazing cattle
A new online exchange brings grazing cattle to summer freshness and provides alpine farmers with the animals they need to graze on the land.
