Electricity price: Haslauer against the communists’ proposal
politics
A clear no comes from Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP) to the latest demand of the Communist Party in the electricity price debate. KPÖ councilor Kay-Michael Dankl called on the city and state to forego part of their dividends from the millions in profits of Salzburg AG and thus to pay for the electricity to low-income families.
Haslauer speaks of a purely politically motivated demand by Dankl: “The distribution of dividends will be used by the city and state to make public transport available at low cost. In addition, there are housing subsidies and the social sector. Economically weaker people are supported there.”
Higher prices for electricity and gas fixed
In the end, this money would always end up with the people of Salzburg, according to the head of government: “We are now looking at the extent to which Salzburg AG now intends to increase electricity and gas prices. There WILL be the raises whenever, we know that. Because prices are also exploding internationally.” Haslauer said the details would be worked out next week.
SPÖ claims the first proposal for itself
The Salzburg SPÖ points out that their club chairwoman Andrea Brandner submitted an application with exactly this demand on February 2, 2022 during the municipal council meeting, which is now coming from the KPÖ.
“Wetteren” shows how big the problem is
Meanwhile, Dankl spoke up again: Haslauer’s “weathers” against his person show how big the problem of rising gas and electricity prices is. This affects not only the poor, but the middle class.
