Automotive production in Portugal drops 30.5% in January
The number of cars in Portugal, down 30.5% in January in Portugal, compared to the same month in 2021, down by 18,031, advance this Thursday to the Associação Automóvel de Portugal (ACAP).
Decreases in vehicles, production of light vehicles4.3% to 6,351, and heavy vehicles2 decrease of 13.1%, paragraph 212.
“Statistical information for January 2022 confirms the importance of exports to the automotive sector, as 97.1% of vehicles manufactured in Portugal are destined for the foreign market, which significantly contributes to the Portuguese trade balance”, highlights an ACAP.
The national one indicates that the association continues to be the leading export market, with brands manufactured in the territory 94.1% of France, Europe (27.7%), Germany (15.3%), Spain (11.9% ) and Italy (9.8%) at the top of the ‘ranking’.
As for the assembly of motor vehicles in Portugal, nine light vehicles were assembled in January, with a 50% decrease compared to 2021.
According to ACAP, all vehicles assembled in Portugal in January were exported to Germany.
