Santiago do Cacém hosts the play “Viagem a Portugal, Paragem Alentejo”
The Lavrar o Mira e a Lagoa project, carried out in partnership with the Municipality of Santiago do Cacém, is back with the show Viagem a Portugal – Paragem Alentejo, on the 18th and 19th of February.
This is a documentary theater piece by Teatro do Vestido with artistic direction by Joana Craveiro.
At this stop in the south of Portugal (name that asked José Saramago for a trip), the travelers of the Teatro do Vestido search, as if digging, in a territory between Santiago do Cacém and Odemira. Telling people, names, stories and objects parade in front of travelers, who make it all part of a journey that looks for life stories, some memories and these places.
Like someone who digs, and as he arrives, he discovers more and more at the bottom, without ever hitting the rock underneath it all.
layers do we need to dig/ how many times do we feel part of a territory?
The traveler that José Saramago talks about in his Journey to Portugal wonders about his reason for traveling. All travelers do, and yet the journey itself always overshadows them. In the melee of the kilometers covered, the trip wins.
In this trip to Portugal by Teatro do Vestido, the trip becomes a presence, inscribed in the spectacle landscape in research and, fruit in the field, and in the path of creating human places, which allows us to relate in a knowledge and to know stories to be able to retell them. in the form of theater.
