VSV denies double header against HC Innsbruck! – Hockey-News.info
The EC GRAND Immo VSV team is brimming with self-confidence after the last five wins in the series: The blue and whites not only impressed in terms of play, but also showed a lot of morale and fighting spirit when they were behind in the meantime, such as in Laibach or most recently against Fehervar. For Jamie Fraser and Co. things will continue in quick succession tomorrow with an away double in Innsbruck.
EC GRAND Immo VSV head coach Rob Daum: “Despite the recent painful absences, we have performed very well. The team has moved even closer together and our young players have also integrated very well into the team and given another talent test. Innsbruck now expects us two very difficult games within 24 hours with absolute playoff character. It will be very difficult, we & other top performances to score points in Innsbruck!” The game in the Wasserkraft Arena starts tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:15 p.m. – the games are streamed live at live.ice .hockey to see, ORF Kärnten reports on the radio with live entries from 8:04 p.m.!
One thing straight away – Rick Schofield gives the all-clear: After intensive investigations, the lower body injury turned out to be not as severe as feared. Whether he can return to the line-up in the next two games in Innsbruck will be decided tomorrow after morning training. In any case, the medical department of the blue and whites is working at full speed to get the strong center fit again as quickly as possible.
Preparations for the away doubles in Innsbruck began today. Within 24 hours, the blue and white meet the Tyroleans twice. Daum: “In the end I was really satisfied with our performance. Above all, you saw how much character there is in the team. Both in Linz and recently against Fehervar we turned one into a win. now it’s time not to slack off, but to work hard anyway. Especially when you think that there are only nine points between 2nd and 11th place. It will be particularly difficult in Innsbruck, every match now has absolute playoff character. They will appear with a lot of energy, so we have to be ready from the start and implement our game plan!” The coach was particularly satisfied with the performances of the VSV youngsters Johannes Tschurnig, Luca Potocnik and Martin Urbanek. After all, there were 15 Austrians in the VSV line-up against Fehervar, eight of them even washed Villach! Luca Potocnik and Johannes Tschurnig will also make the trip to Innsbruck.
For defender Philipp Lindner, a native of Tyrol who works for EC GRAND Immo VSV, the clash against his compatriots will of course be a very special challenge: “Innsbruck are a very creative team, especially in attack, with some strong individual players. We have to be extremely careful, especially at the beginning, not allowing any counterattacks, because they are very dangerous there. We have four strong lines that can go at an enormously high pace. We have an advantage there, we have to tire them out. For me, this game naturally means a good portion of extra motivation. The most important thing is that we act like in the last matches and impose our game on them. Then we can beat every team in the league.”
Incidentally, Lindner is playing a very excellent season and is one of the top Austrian defenders in the entire league. Not only is he defensively the personification of reliability in the blue and white, but he also convinces with offensive qualities. This also applies to his personal record: the 26-year-old has a total of 14 points, including two goals. And that with a strong +10 in the plus-minus rating.
EC GRAND Immo VSV head coach Rob Daum still has to do without Renars Krastenbergs and the long-term injured Anton Karlsson and Yannic Pilloni in the “doubles” against Innsbruck. Whether Rick Schofield can already play will be decided after tomorrow’s final training session.
The previous two duels against the “Haie” in Villach ended with a 2:3 defeat in overtime and a 3:2 victory in the shutout of the blue and white. VSV top scorer Scott Kosmachuk, who currently leads the league points ranking with 44 points together with Peter Schneider (Vienna Capitals) and Tim McGauley (HCI), used the crucial penalty kick.
