The Crossbowmen Federation confirms Marino Rossi as president and returns to 5 cities
The Crossbowmen Company of the City of Volterra, and the Crossbowman Company of Pisa Porta San Marco are state admissions to the Italian Crossbowmen Federation (FIB). With the admission of the two Companies of the Crossbowmen of Volterra and Pisa the National Tournament returns to be played, after 14 years, between five cities. In February 1966 the FIB was founded and in the same month this year marked a new beginning with the same enthusiasm and the same passion that unites all the federated cities. As in 1966 the president is still a Sammarinese, not only but also the son of the first co-founder president of the Federation prof. Giuseppe Rossi. Two happy coincidences undoubtedly auspicious for the new course. Rossi thanked the Confederate cities for the confirmation of the esteem and trust unanimously expressed for the commitment and passion lavished in these three years. The FIB is the oldest Federation of Italian crossbowmen was born in Arezzo on February 13, 1966 where the four presidents of the Crossbowmen Associations of Gubbio, Sansepolcro, Massa Marittima and the Republic of San Marino met for its foundation. Since then, every year the Tournament has been an unmissable event for the participating cities, organized in a cyclical way among all the federated cities. The Federal Council has already planned the dispute of the 55th National Tournament to be held this year in Massa Marittima on 2 July at night. In the city of Maremma there will be 75 crossbowmen who will compete to win the individual title of Italian Champion to which the “King of the Crossbow” Collar candidate will be awarded; in addition, the competition for the title of the National Team Championship will be held. There is satisfaction and expectation among the five cities for this day that will see a historical cortege of 250 figures in their splendid medieval costumes made up of crossbowmen, standard bearers, armigers, ladies and knights and the exhibition of the Company of flag-wavers and musicians.
