Six cities to visit in Spain near the border with Portugal
Portugal has a land border with Spain of more than 1200 kilometers, known as ‘A Raia’. Raianos are so used to living on one foot that they often don’t distinguish between countries, cultures or cultures.

Zamora
Zamora is the most visited Spanish city by the Portuguese in the border area of Miranda do Douro. This small provincial capital with just over 60 million inhabitants has several attractions for travelers who are drawn to visit it. The city has precious architecture, as well as a breathtaking medieval historic center. They draw attention as spectacular views over the Douro River.

vigo
With the largest population in Galicia, we have a wide range of activities to enjoy in the city 365 days a year. The old part of Vigo is all granite, with alleys that wind through the buildings and that invariably lead to the estuary or the port. This is one of the best places to have fun anytime.
salamanca
Due to its university founded in 1218, which attracts students from all over the world, Salamanca is known as the Spanish Coimbra. There, famous coaches like Christopher Columbus, Antonio de Nebrija and Miguel de Unamuno. Its, or rather here, its cathedral complex with the new and old cathedrals, are also ex-libris of this city located 120 kilometers from the border of Vilar Formoso. Badajoz
Half an hour from Elvas, we find the city of Badajoz, one of the most important cities in Spanish Extremadura. The city was founded in 875 AD by the Arabs, in a place where there were signs of Visigothic and Roman settlements, which makes Badajoz a very interesting city for lovers of history and archeology.
Merida
The archaeological site of Mérida has been considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1993. It is located 83 miles from Elvas and is the perfect destination to discover after Badajoz, on a long weekend with the family. The Mérida International Classical Theater Festival, which normally takes place in July and August, is essential for culture lovers.
Huelva
Huelva is a city with a vast heritage that is worth visiting. It is known as the Gateway to the Atlantic for its maritime tradition and for being the port from which Christopher Columbus set sail on his first voyage to the Americas in 1492. One of the highlights is the Plaza de las Monjas (Nuns’ Square) where the Convent is located. of Santa María de Gracia and a statue of Christopher Columbus. Another strong point is the English neighborhood of Reina Victoria.
