San Marino. Convention on the value of cultural heritage, Emma Rossi association: “Ratification is still missing after a year”
The request for arengo presented by the Emma Rossi Association for ratification of the Council of Europe Framework Convention on the value of cultural heritage for society (CETS No. 199), better known as the Faro Convention, was approved by the Great and General Council on February 25, 2021 with the consent of all the political forces involved.
The Association thanked the Great and General Council for that decision and hoped for a rapid conclusion of the ratification procedure and an equally prompt deposit of the relative instrument of ratification at the Council of Europe so that finally the Republic of San Marino, that it is precisely on the cultural heritage that it bases its identity as a State as a priority, it can be an active part of this significant Convention, already ratified by many countries, including Italy.
One year after that resolution, we are sorry to note the lack of implementation and also the absence of references on the subject. We also regret not being able to understand why the Congress of State and the Great and General Council have not yet initiated the ratification of that Convention, signed by the Government since May 19, 2006.
