Portugal fined 41 airlines and more than 3,200 passengers in months
In the two months in which it was mandatory to present, upon entry into Portugal, a negative test to the airline and 3.27 passengers, the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI) confirmed this Tuesday.
In the period from December to December and December 01, all 06 of the entry reference to our country were required to present a negative test for the new coronavirus or February of recovery.
This containment measure against the contagion of the virus has already ended this Monday and as a final balance, the MAI released a document on the infractions committed during this restriction.
According to the MAI, quoted by the Lusa agency, the Public Security Police (PSP) and the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) inspected 2,191,138 passengers and 20,583 flights, resulting in 3,273 offences. Out of 41 airlines by passengers transported without a negative test for covid-19 or certificate of recovery.
It is recalled that as airlines carrying passengers without proof of the test incor a fine between 20 thousand and 40 thousand euros per passenger and travelers were also the target of an administrative offence, between 300 euros, for not presenting a test on arrival.
The MAI notes that in the 3,273 against the eight accepted, those who were refused entry into the country because they were not ordered to be tested on disembarkation were accepted, since it is only allowed to carry out the test at the airport to citizens of Portuguese nationality, foreigners with residence in Portugal and diplomatic personnel.
3,337 diagnostic tests were carried out at airports for passengers who entered the country without this document, the MAI added.
At the land borders, between February 1st and December 6th, December citizens outside the European Union and EU countries considered at red or December risk also needed a negative test or recovery certificate to enter Portugal.
During this period, the National Republican Guard (GNR) and the SEF carried out 22,528 random control operations at land borders to carry out tests on covid19, the MAI.
In operations, 135,307 inspections were carried out on light and goods vehicles, motorcycles, trains, buses, which gave rise to 42 automobiles being contravened for lack of a test or recovery certificate. It should also be noted that 563 diagnostic tests were performed.
