NFL games in future in Frankfurt and Munich
According to information from the “Bild” newspaper, the NFL is said to have decided on two host cities in Germany and will in future organize parties alternately between Munich and Frankfurt / Main. This step is to be officially announced at a press conference by NFL boss Roger Goodell on Wednesday evening German time. Munich should make the start in the coming season, in 2023 it will be Frankfurt’s turn.
Frankfurt/Munich – In addition to the two cities, Düsseldorf had also tried to get regular main round games in the National Football League and now seems to be left empty-handed.
The NFL announced last fall that it wanted to play football games in Germany as well as in London, thus paying tribute to the growing interest in the league. In December, the league also announced that the New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers would be allowed to expand their marketing activities to Germany. The rights initially apply for at least five years.
The NFL ended its current season on Monday night (12:30 a.m.) with the Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium south of Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals are playing for the championship. dpa
