Result of the Munich winter running series on February 5, 2022 in the Olympic Park
Final of the Munich 2021/2022 winter running series over 20 km series winners Thea Heim and Alexander Bleffgen
On February 5th, the Munich winter running series 2021/2022 will enter the third and final round. The runners were able to test their form over the 20-kilometer distance – there was also a 10-kilometer carnival run.
The sun was shining with temperatures around 5 degrees and the wind was blowing in places. So the running conditions in the Olympic Park were good and many good times were achieved. Based on the hygiene concept, there was the condition “2G+ or booster vaccination” and a mask requirement before the start. The pre-start area is exclusively outside – in the vicinity of the Munich Olympic Stadium. There was also a single start with net timing.
At the finish, the participants could quench their thirst with drinks from xenofit or non-alcoholic wheat beer from Erdinger Non-Alcoholic.
Thea Heim (LG TELIS Finanz Regensburg) won over 20 km in 1:14:23 h ahead of Constance Dennilauler (Pacé en Courant) in 1:19:42 h and Ricarda Gerlach (also LG TELIS Finanz Regensburg) in 1: 7:57 p.m. Behind them came Caroline Dennilaufer, Dajana Pechtl – the multiple winner of long-distance swimming in Munich – and Julia Stern. Heim thus again won the series ranking (as 4th overall) clearly ahead of the siblings Constance and Caroline Dannilauler. Hanna Pfannes, Katherine Fitch and Yvonne Lingnau followed.
In the men’s race, former series winner Paul Günther (Tri Team FFB) managed a narrow victory in 1:07:46 h ahead of Gergios Pounaras (GS.DESKATIS) in 1:07:59 h. Stephan Fruhmann followed in 1:09:42, Mario Bernhardt in 1:09:57 h (at LG Passau). After that, the protagonists of the series ranking, Alexander Bleffgen (TSV Jahn Freising) in 1:11:11 h and Michel Nouguier in 1:11:36 h, crossed the finish line: Bleffgen was only 8 seconds ahead of Nouguier in the series ranking. Third place went to Jack Ranyard, followed by Georg Kinadeter, Roman Schindlbeck and Lukas Michels in the overall standings.
At the 10 km carnival run, many runners were out and about in disguise. Andreas Weigert won in 35:12, ahead of Frank Schneider in 35:22 and Paul Rötzer in 36:02. In the women’s race, Verena Cerna finished in 37:23 ahead of Jana Vogel in 38:48 and Hannah Sassnink in 39:13 min.
