At the end of January, 304 people were registered as unemployed with the Liechtenstein Public Employment Service (AMS FL), 3 fewer than in the previous month. The unemployment rate remains unchanged in January 2022 at 1.5% compared to the previous month. Compared to the same month last year, unemployment fell by 100 people (-24.8%). The unemployment rate fell by 0.5 percentage points compared to the same month last year.
youth unemployment
Youth unemployment (15 to 24 year olds) fell by 3 people (-9.1%) to 30. Compared to the same month last year, this corresponds to a decrease of 12 people (-28.6%). The youth unemployment rate is 1.4 percent. Compared to the same month last year, this decreased by 0.5 percentage points.
Other age groups
In the 25-49 age group, unemployment remained unchanged at 177 compared to the previous month. This corresponds to a rate of 1.7 percent (previous month 1.7%).
In the 50+ age group, unemployment remained unchanged from the previous month at 97 people. This corresponds to a rate of 1.3 percent (previous month 1.3%).
people in the intermediary service
At the end of January, 75 people were working in the interim service. Compared to the previous month, this figure has decreased by 12 (-13.8%). Compared to the same month last year, this corresponds to an increase of 11 people (-12.8%). Interim earnings are any income from self-employment or employment, which also means that the receipt of daily unemployment benefits is suspended or reduced.
Dynamics of arrivals and departures at the AMS FL
The number of arrivals at the AMS FL in the reporting month is 55 people. This corresponds to 12 people (-17.9%) fewer than in the previous month. The number of departures is believed to be 84 people. That is 32 people (-61.5%) more than in the previous month.
Reported vacancies
The number of vacancies reported to the AMS FL is 820 compared to 892 in the previous month (-8.1%). Compared to the same month last year, 17 more jobs (+2.1%) were registered.
short-time work
By the reporting month, 889 companies had registered claims for compensation for short-time work under the COVID-19-ALVV and 18 companies for weather-related short-time work under the ALVG. Claiming short-time work compensation under the COVID-19-ALVV is still possible until the end of March 2022. The effective payments of short-time work compensation due to COVID-19 are generally still declining.
