The two Kämp Collection hotels affiliated with SLH and Hyatt are changing to recommendations
Nordic Choice bought Kämp Collection Hotels before the pandemic started (bad timing for them), and I already pointed out the absurdity of their hotel with several chains.
Earlier this week, I was browsing the Kämp Collection site (often cheaper than branded sites). I noticed that both Lilla Robers and Haven were offering a 50% discount on Sunday nights, and I decided to look at what they were looking for at the Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) and Hyatt.
Hyatt and SLH have entered into a partnership in which certain SLH-affiliated hotels are also available on Hyatt’s website for both cash and points. However, through Hyatt, prices are generally higher through SLH hotels than through other channels.
I was surprised that no hotels in Helsinki could be found on Hyatt’s website (I had previously stayed in both Lilla Roberts and Haven through them) and then I went to SLH’s website. Nothing there either.
Klaus K, another Kämp Collection hotel, used to be affiliated with Design Hotels (I lived there several times) and decided to choose Preferred Hotels (I don’t understand why).
I visited the Preferred Hotels website to find out that both Lilla Roberts and Haven were affiliated with them. So this change must have taken place since the beginning of this month.
Current Kämp Collection membership:
- Hotel Kämp (World’s Leading Hotels) – Previously with Luxury Collection SPG and Marriott
- Hotel Lilla Roberts (Recommended hotels) – Formerly Small Luxury Hotels of the World & Hyatt
- Hotel Haven (Preferred hotels) – Formerly Small Luxury Hotels of the World & Hyatt
- Hotel St. George (Design hotels – Marriott Bonvoy)
- Hotel Fabian
- Klaus K Hotel (Recommended hotels) – Formerly Design Hotels – Marriott Bonvoy
- GLO Hotel Airport (GHA Discovery)
- GLO Hotel Kluuvi (GHA Discovery)
- GLO Hotel Art (GHA Discovery)
- GLO Hotel Sello (GHA Discovery)
All of these hotels participate in the Nordic Choice, although some Bonus Offers do not apply to stays in Kämp and St. George.
Nordic Hotels:
Even more complicated is the fact that Nordic Hotels has three hotels in Helsinki that are part of the Nordic Choice but are not available on the Kämp Collection website:
- Clarion Hotel Helsinki
- Hotel F6
- Clarion Hotel Aviopolis
Conclusion
Frankly, I don’t understand why some hotels are affiliated with Preferred Hotels, which has the worst “loyalty program” in the industry that rewards about 2% of the room rate in points.
It is unclear to me what is Nordic Hotels’ plan with Kämp Collection hotels? Their loyalty share is now FOUR (LHW, GHA, Design Hotels & Preferred) + Nordic Choice. It’s hard to see how that makes any sense here.
The Hyatt Unbound Collection Hotel is coming to the center of Helsinki.
