Elite 1 – Carcassonne XIII bends Avignon in the second half – Rugby League
Carcassonne XIIII faced Avignon for one of the shocks of the 10th day of Elite 1.
If Avignon kicks off, Carcassonne is the first to stand out. After an award granted, the Canaries are within 10 yards. Dane Francis taps a small kick for himself and opens the score in the 3rd minute. Herrero does not convert and it is already 4-0. But Avignon will return to the game and invest the opposing camp after two features on dangerous tackles from Bastien Canet. Rémi Andreu fails the defense and comes to equalize. Olivier Arnaud does not convert and the score is 4-4.
As we approach the quarter of an hour of play, Carcassonne is again at fault. This time Mr Drizza takes out the yellow for Bouregba and Carcassonne is at 12. Despite the numerical inferiority, Carcassonne is on the attack and the Bisons are penalized this time. In a good position, Herrero passes the penalty and restores the advantage to the Canaries 6-4.
Half an hour into the game, with SOA on the attack, Gambaro recovers a loose ball and crosses the pitch to score Carcassonne’s second try. Herrero converted, 12-4. Once again penalized on its test line, Carcassonne will cash a test signed Meyziani. Arnaud transforms and reduces the mark 12-10.
We are approaching half-time and Avignon, in his camp, will in turn be at fault. Herrero does not need to be asked and passes the penalty. The two teams return to the locker room with a score of 14-10.
Carcassonne XIII takes off
From the resumption, Carcassonne accelerates. First by Bitigri who fails to defend Avignon. It will not be transformed (18-10). Then Bastien Canet scores in power and this time it is transformed by Herrero. Carcassonne takes off and leads 24-10.
We are approaching the hour of play and Gambaro will still make the show. The winger collects a new ball and crosses the field to sign up for a new try. It’s converted and the score is 30-10. The ordeal does not stop there for the Vauclusiens who, two minutes later, cash a new test signed Dane Francis. It will not be transformed and Carcassonne takes off 34-10.
Vincent Albert’s yellow card does not change the dynamics of the match. Indeed Carcassonne at 12 is superior and concretizes a new attack with a try by Bastien Canet, his second of the day. Clément Herrero is not successful and misses the transformation 38-10. We are approaching the last 10 minutes of play and Carcassonne is still a treat. The Fijian Maika Serulevu plays with the Avignon defense and after a beautiful slalom scored in a new test for the Carcassonne. Herrero transforms this time and the score goes to 44-10.
The last minutes gave nothing and Avignon no longer had the necessary resources to reduce the mark. Carcassonne manages and imposes itself largely for this recovery match. Despite being reduced to 12 twice, Carcassonne were superior this afternoon.
