A revisited score of La Trova at the Chêne noir theater
Four of the most talented musicians on the French scene accompany the songs of the Cuban Eliène Castillo (Havana Jazz Prize) and the flamenco-influenced voice of Clara Tudela. An ensemble that announces a high-flying musical evening on Friday February 11 in Avignon at the Chêne noir, salle Léo Ferré.
Old Cuban songs, calypsos, mambos and old boleros…
After two albums with his accomplice China Moses, Raphaël Lemonnier comes to deliver a revisited score of the Trova where old Cuban songs, calypsos, mambos and old boleros tinged with jazz and blues rub shoulders. The bolero becomes blues, the blues becomes bolero.
The Trova Project, which the remarkable jazz pianist initiated, is the union of musicians from different backgrounds. For this concert, he is accompanied on the blues guitar by the Avignonnais Rémi Charmasson (former student of the Avignon Conservatory) who will recall the blues and the outdated sound of the 50s and 60s. Also at his side, Xavier Desandre Navarre, drummer and percussionist who has worked with the big names in jazz and Latin music, and Lilian Bencini, experienced double bass player, at ease both in jazz and in Afro-American music. Cuban.
