Sweden’s Lindwall takes honor of Troon Abu Dhabi Pro Am
Troon Abu Dhabi Pro-Am, which was launched for the first time in 2018, is an annual event on Abu Dhabi’s golf calendar with this year’s event the fifth edition.
The 54-hole tournament had rounds of competition over three golf courses in Abu Dhabi: Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, Abu Dhabi Golf Club and the final round at Yas Links.
Lindwall said after his victory: “We had so much fun here as a team, the three different courses are in such good shape. Going to new places for each round when they are so good meant we really liked it. I now go to the winter series for the Nordic League and it will be really exciting and this is the perfect setup for it. ”
About 23 teams competed, with one professional and three amateurs forming a team, with amateurs traveling from countries such as Austria, Belgium, England, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Scotland, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland and Wales.
Second in the team competition was England’s Steven Tiley with amateurs Lyiubomir Minchev (5), Ilia Elfeleki (6) and Stamen Stanchev (16) on the same points as the winners, but lost on a countback in the final round.
Among the leaders in the field were Ladies European Tour player Carly Booth and former Formula 1 driver Heikki Kovalianen.
Robbie Busher was the defending professional champion and he finished in eighth place.
