Norte reported more new ones, but Lisbon and Vale do Tejo recorded more deaths from covid-19
Portugal recorded, in the last 24 hours, 41,511 new cases of covid-19 and 44 deaths associated with the disease. Presented in the bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) released this Saturday, the total number of infected people in the country since the beginning of the pandemic has risen to 2,884,40 and to 20.
The North again reported the highest number of new cases – 15,984. Lisbon and Vale do Tejo follow with 11,856, the Center with 8,265, the Algarve with 1,898 and Alentejo with 1,806. In the Azores there are 1,097 new infections and in Madeira another 606.
Of the 44 deaths reported, 17 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo13 in the North, nine in the Center, two in the Azores and one in the Algarve. Only Madeira has not recorded any death due to covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
The number of admissions has dropped and there are now 2,409 covid patients in Portuguese hospitals, 36 less than in the last balance. Of these, 169 are in Intensive Care Units (ICU) – five less than in yesterday’s bulletin.
On the other hand, 46,439 more people have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recovered in the country since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,226,548.
There are now 637,821 active cases in the country, 4,972 fewer than yesterday, and as health authorities currently have 665,706 contacts under surveillance.
The risk matrix was updated yesterday and reveals that the possibility of continuing to increase, while the transmissibility index (Rt) drops. The national insufficiency is now 7163.7 cases of infection per 100 thousand inhabitants in the last 14 days. When considering only the mainland, it increased to 720.0 cases of infection. The Rt is 1.05 nationally and in mainland Portugal.
