Ulmer extends his contract in Salzburg again
Red Bull Salzburg can also count on captain Andreas Ulmer in the coming season. The left-back extended his contract, which expired at the end of the season, until the summer of 2023. The superior Bundesliga leaders announced this on Friday, two days before the start of the ÖFB Cup quarter-finals against LASK in spring. The 36-year-old has worked for the series champions since January 2009 and made 516 appearances in competitive games.
His title record is similarly impressive, with Salzburg he has been at the top eleven times in the Bundesliga and triumphed eight times in the cup. Previously, he had also won the double with Vienna Austria 2006. With a total of 21 titles, he is the clear number one in Austria. “It is great that our journey together continues. I still enjoy going out onto the pitch with this young squad and playing successfully there. The fact that we were able to set another highlight this season with promotion to the round of 16 in the Champions League is additional motivation for me,” said Ulmer.
Sports director Christoph Freund was obviously happy about the whereabouts of the 30-time ÖFB team player. “I don’t know how many times I’ve said it and I like to repeat myself now: Andi is an absolute model professional and a great role model for our many young players. His attitude, his performance, his consistency and his large number of titles and successes with us speak for themselves more than clearly.”
