San Marino. The director of Limes at Palazzo Begni for a conference on geopolitics
“On Friday 4 February, a high-level geopolitics seminar was held in San Marino, addressed to diplomatic officials of the Foreign Affairs Department and led by Prof. Lucio Caracciolo, director of Limes, a well-known Italian geopolitics monthly magazine”.
This is what is reported in a press release. “The initiative – in which the San Marino diplomats present in the main offices abroad also took part via video link – was realized thanks to the commitment of the Secretariat of State for Foreign Affairs and its conviction that, in a world of multipolar international relations and progressively more and more complex and articulated, geopolitics plays a leading role.
As stated by the Secretary of State Luca Beccari, who inaugurated the day of work, “this will be an opportunity to appropriately update the toolbox provided by you diplomatic agents to promote the country abroad and improve its international position. , as well as to better defend the interests of the Republic of San Marino “.
During the meeting Prof. Caracciolo examined the main nodes in the geopolitical chessboard present on the global scenario, also considering the challenges and opportunities for small states, however included in the international chessboard. In particular, Caracciolo perfectly framed the role of San Marino in the geopolitical context, carving out and confirming the role of the small Republic, significant in its ability to act as an international interlocutor.
He then examined certain specificities of the Republic’s foreign policy, placing them in a scenario of regional integration and participation in world dynamics, including in the multilateral context. Finally, he answered the numerous questions posed by the participants.
This is the first concrete training experience that, in the work of progressive qualification of the San Marino diplomatic service, the Secretariat of State and the Foreign Affairs Department aim to organize also in the future.
