La Rochelle remporte le derby chez les JSA Bordeaux
The JSA started the beating drums part with a long distance basket from its leader Razanamahenina. Vorotnikovas and Johnson carried the thrust under the circle of La Rochelle to bring the score to 7-0. We had to wait more than 4 minutes to see the Rochelais Thinon register the first three points for his team on a shot of which he has the secret (7-3). But the Bordelais proved to be skilful in the exercise with an out-of-area shot from the American Johnson (10-3). The JSA Bordeaux won the first quarter (15 -10), well helped by the clumsiness of the Maritimes who ended the period with a sad 22% in shooting.
Eleventh had decided to sound the alarm clock for the Rochelais at the start of the second quarter (15-14). Razanamahenina and Johnson showed that Bordeaux did not let go (20-14). But La Rochelle was better. The proof, the interception of Gassama on Chassaigne concluded with a basket (20-16). Wright then this same Gassama allowed their team to return to the Basques of the Girondins (22-22). A real crossover began between the two formations, with in particular the hot paw of Johnson on the JSA side (25-22) and Thinon on the La Rochelle side (25-25). Carey scored his first basket of the game and awarded the advantage to La Rochelle (27-29). Clerc finished with a three-point shot to allow the Stadistes to take the lead at the break (31-35).
Intensity at its peak
Upon returning from the locker room, La Rochelle could count on the presence in the circle of his American Carey who offered himself a furious dunk (33-39). It was then believed that the Stade Rochelais was going to fly away but the JSA offered themselves a real festival at the shootx by the intervention of long-distance shots from Razanamahenina and Desmonts. The Girondins inflicted on the visitors a scathing 11-0 to take the lead (48-45). But it was finally Wright who ended the third quarter with a final basket (49-50).
