Munich · The Munich City Museum is looking for personal memories and stories about the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. The Olympic Games are deeply inscribed in Munich’s cityscape and collective memory.
The arc spans from the spirit of optimism during the preparation period and the associated surge in innovation to the start of the “cheerful games” and the shock of the assassination attempt on the strong team.
The Munich City Museum team is collecting stories and memorabilia from the games and related events and will be presenting them in an exhibition and on the project’s website. In this way, a shared landscape of memories is created that supplements, updates and expands the view of the events surrounding the Olympic Games in Munich and their importance for the city.
The City Museum invites everyone to tell their story about the 1972 Summer Olympics and/or to bring their memorabilia such as photos, films, documents, textiles and papers! Just drop by the narrative café “München 72” in the lounge of the Munich City Museum and tell your stories. The kick-off event will take place on Thursday, February 3rd at 4 p.m. in the narrative café “München 72” (St.-Jakobs-Platz 1). W
Further appointments are always Tuesdays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., every 2nd Wednesday of the month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and by appointment by email [email protected] or Tel. 089/233- 521671.
