Sweden must lift all restrictions on covid-19
Sweden will lift all restrictions related to the covid-19 pandemic next week, said Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson at a press conference. It reports Reuters.
“It’s time to open Sweden again. It can be said that the incidence will remain high for some time, but as far as we can judge, all the worst consequences of the pandemic are behind us, says the Prime Minister.
The decision to suspend soon came amid an increase in the number of cases of the new omicron strain, but the country’s authorities hope that the revaccination of the population will be able to keep hospital stay rates under control. The current pandemic restrictions were previously extended to 9 February. They include limiting the opening hours of catering establishments and a ban on holding events with more than 500 participants.
On 16 January, the Danish authorities lifted a number of restrictions previously imposed in connection with the spread of covid-19. Cinemas, museums and theaters will be able to receive visitors again. In addition, a limited number of fans will be released back to competitions, which take place both indoors and outdoors.
Earlier, the Finnish government announced that the authorities were preparing to impose a state of emergency due to the worsening situation with the covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of such a measure is to ensure the work of social and health care in the initial stage and not to introduce new restrictions.
