Gaveto descends to Lisbon to serve lamprey at JNcQUOI
Fishing for lamprey began in January and, despite the lack of abundance, specimens of the cyclostome would already begin in Lisbon. Some restaurants have been serving lamprey for a few weeks, such as Solar dos Presuntos or Dom Feijão, in Alvalade. Now it’s JNcQUOI Avenida’s turn to promote a themed week, in partnership with the Matosinhos restaurant O Gaveto.
Next week, from the 9th to the 15th of February, everything will revolve around the lamprey. There will be a lamprey marinade (35€) as a starter and, of course, the traditional lamprey à Bordeaux (48€). On request, you won’t even be missing the lamprey cabidela.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the restaurant on Avenida da Liberdade has teamed up with O Gaveto to serve this specialty in Lisbon. After the 15th of February, the lamprey season, which mostly comes from Minho, continues in some restaurants in the city, but don’t be distracted because, after March, you will only have the opportunity again next year.
At JNcQUOI Avenida, the lamprey will be available for lunch and dinner. Reservations can be made via phone (219 369 900) or email ([email protected]).
